YEREVAN. – There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Armenia, health ministry official told reporters on Monday.

Artavazd Vanyan, director of National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, dismissed reports about a coronavirus infection case allegedly recorded in the southern town of Meghri. Over 2,000 citizens coming from other countries are under control now, the official said. All 83 patients who were hospitalized underwent coronavirus testing, none of them was positive.

Once a coronavirus infection case is recorded in Armenia, experts will make a public statement so that people could be on alert in order to prevent the spread of novel virus, Vanyan assured. This will also help to discover people who contacted the infected person and quarantine them.

The expert assured that Armenia is quite ready to confront coronavirus if the infection penetrates into the country. The experts are assessing the level of preparedness of medical facilities. If problems or shortcomings are detected, they will be eliminated, Vanyan concluded.
