Coronavirus test for home use approved in US

The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday said it had granted emergency clearance to the in-home test for COVID-19.

The nasal swab kit will be sold by LabCorp.

LabCorp's Pixel test will initially be available to healthcare providers and those acting as directed by a physician. The kit includes the necessary items so that the patient can independently take a nasal swab.

For a home test, you must first fill out an online application form. If your suspicions are confirmed by your doctor, LabCorp will send the test kit home.

A new approach should help expand testing capabilities. Moreover, it will help reduce the risk of infection for health workers when taking smears and reduce the use of protective equipment.
