Reusable face masks should be washed regularly, MedicalXpress reported referring to specialists from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The abovementioned experts recommended washing the mask after each use. The easiest way to disinfect the mask at home, they say, is to wash it with hot water and detergents - at least soap.

According to Penni Watts, associate professor at the University of Alabama, it is recommended to dry the mask thoroughly after washing with using hot air.

It is recommended that clean fabric masks be stored in a sealed paper bag until their next use to prevent bacteria and viruses from appearing on the fabric surface.

Representatives of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also noted that you can use a piece of an old T-shirt, a scarf, a bandana as a protective mask.

CDC does not recommend the purchase of medical masks such as N95, used by doctors to prevent a shortage of this protective equipment on the market.
