The World Health Organization once again halted research on hydroxychloroquine for the COVID-19 treatment, Reuters reported.

WHO expert Ana Maria Henao-Restrepo noted: "After deliberation, they have concluded that the hydroxychloroquine arm will be stopped from the Solidarity Trial."

According to medportal.ru, back in March, WHO announced the start of a major study (Solidarity) of several drugs to combat COVID-19. Hydroxychloroquine was among the tested drugs. However, at the end of May, a large study published in The Lancet showed that this drug was ineffective against coronavirus. This study was subsequently withdrawn, but the WHO managed to suspend the study of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine.
