In an interview with URA.RU, virologist, Doctor of Biological Sciences Alexey Agranovsky (Russia) said the current vaccines against the coronavirus will also be effective against the new strain of the coronavirus that is currently spreading in the UK.

It seems as though the new mutation is making the virus more contagious. Experts say if there haven’t been changes in the viral protein of etiotopes, antibodies will be able to attack them.

The expert says the new strain discovered in the UK may pose a risk for people in Russia and advises to close air communication with that country.

On December 14, UK Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock announced the discovery of a new strain of SARS-CoV-2. The mutated form of the coronavirus spreads more quickly than the previous one and is transmitted from one person to the next more easily. Many countries have already closed their borders for travelers from the UK.
