Minister, UN official discuss introduction of general health insurance in Armenia

Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan received the delegation led by the UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia, Shombi Sharp.

They discussed Armenia’s cooperation with UN agencies in the field of health care, as well as future courses of actions.

Sharp touched upon the recent Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war and the solution of the problems arising from it, as well as highlighted the work aimed at the introduction of general health insurance in Armenia.

Avanesyan, for her part, stressed the need to improve rehabilitation treatment among Armenian soldiers and civilians, expressing hope that the issue will be resolved through joint efforts.

The parties also discussed the selection of coronavirus vaccines.

Summing up the meeting, the participants noted that many healthcare reforms had been carried out in Armenia in the fight against COVID-19, and that the previously started programs should be completed.
