15:24 10 March, 2021The so-called post-COVID-19 syndrome can develop in people who have been asymptomatic COVID-19 patients; moreover, the manifestations may remain for at least two months. This is stated in a study published in medrxiv.
The authors of the study focused on people who were infected with the coronavirus, but didn’t need to be admitted to hospitals. After 60 days, 27% of them showed signs of the post-Soviet syndrome, including shortness of breath, cough, chest pain or abdominal pain. Out of 34 children whose data were included in the study, “long COVID-19” developed in 11 of them.
There were no symptoms of COVID-19 in the course of ten days after one-third of people with long-term disorders following the virus received a positive result of the PSR test. However, scientists say the study featured a small number of asymptomatic patients since those people rarely get tested for the coronavirus.
Scientists have set aside clusters of symptoms of the post-COVID-19 syndrome that can often be combined, including:
The authors have found a link between certain symptoms in the acute phase of COVID-19 and the development of certain clusters of symptoms. For instance, insomnia was linked to the frequent development of the second and fourth clusters (cough and chest pain).
