3% of women and 55% of men in Armenia smoke: Global smoking report published

3.10% of women (0.04 million) and 55.3% of men (0.64 million) smoke in Armenia,  a global smoking survey published by The Lancet and The Lancet Public Health reported.

According to reports, over 20 years, the number of smokers in Armenia has decreased by 5.19% and 8.42%, respectively. Moreover, according to data for 2019, 4860 deaths per 100,000 (17.4%) in the country are attributable to causes associated with smoking.

Global analysis showed that since 1990, the proportion of smokers among men worldwide has decreased by 25%, among women - by 37.7%. However, men began to smoke more in 20 countries, women - in 12, including Russia.
