No vaccine provides a 100% guarantee against coronavirus infection, but vaccination can save you from complications of the disease, as experts from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have found.

According to Medportal.ru, the ongoing HEROES-RECOVER study involves about 4,000 medical and emergency workers who are at increased risk of contracting coronavirus.

From December to April, the coronavirus was confirmed in 204 people, of whom 16 received the vaccine.

According to CDC estimates, fully vaccinated people are protected from SARS-CoV-2 infection by 91%, those who were injected with only one component - by 81%. Patients who received even one dose of the vaccine carried the infection more easily and recovered on average two days earlier than the unvaccinated. In addition, they had a significantly reduced risk (60%) of developing unpleasant symptoms such as fever or chills. Some volunteers survived the infection asymptomatically.

The study also showed that fully or partially vaccinated people who become infected with SARS-CoV-2 are less likely to transmit the infection to others, since their viral load is, on average, 40% lower. Nasal swabs of vaccinated participants showed six days less virus detection compared to unvaccinated ones.
