What signs refer that there is not enough salt in the human body? Gastroenterologist and nutritionist Natalia Stukova (Russia) shared her opinion on this.

According to her, salt is necessary for the body, because it takes part in metabolic processes at the cell level.

The minerals found in salt support the balance of electrolytes, which include sodium. And a lack of salt in the diet can lead to physical illness and even some health problems.

"Signs of a lack of salt in the body can be headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, heart failure, unstable hemodynamics," she said.

The specialist recalled the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO), which advises consuming sodium in the amount of no more than 2 grams per day for adults, which corresponds to 5 grams of table salt.
