Main signs of stroke

Some small signs can help to suspect a person has a stroke, experts from the American Heart Association said.

Ischemic stroke develops as a result of blockage of blood vessels in the brain, which leads to cell death. Sometimes a person has no warning symptoms.

The main signs that help identify a stroke include facial changes, such as a person not being able to smile, or if their mouth or eyes droop.

Symptoms may also appear in the hands - numbness may begin in one of the limbs, or the person may not be able to lift and hold the hands in that position because of weakness.

Sometimes a person with a stroke may seem very alert and not complain about anything, but have trouble speaking or understanding what others are saying.
