Green buckwheat has more beneficial properties than "ordinary" buckwheat, Russian nutritionist Yulia Polovinskaya confirms, according to RIA Novosti.
Lack of heat treatment makes green buckwheat more useful, as the grain loses vitamins during that process.
According to the expert, green buckwheat is rich in fiber, which improves digestion, and is easily digested by the body.
In addition, green buckwheat contains antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that have a positive effect on the immune system and the human body, in general, as well as slows down the aging process.
The aforesaid nutritionist noted that green buckwheat also normalizes the level of hemoglobin in the blood.
"An excellent food for losing weight; it fills [the body], improves metabolism. [But] people with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract should use [it] with caution, as it increases the production of gas in the intestines," the specialist added.
