What disease could an itchy eyelid indicate?

An itchy eyelid could be a symptom of cancer.

The New England Journal of Medicine published the case of a 47-year-old woman whose itchy eyelid was a sign of eye melanoma, a fairly rare disease in which cells that produce the eye pigment begin to divide and multiply too rapidly and uncontrollably.

According to the Express, some parts of the eye are more susceptible to melanoma of the eye than others. However, melanoma of this organ is a rather rare ailment.

Other symptoms of the disease include flashes of light, wavy lines in front of the eyes, blurred vision or loss of vision, and a dark spot in the eye that enlarges. The patient may also have swelling on the eyelid.
