Unique bioprinting can replace skin

Scientists from the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA, have created unique bioprinting, which can replace human tissues.

The results of the study are published in the journal Advanced Materials.

The technology is the printing created from living cells and dense microgel, which is similar in texture to flakes. Using this technology, specialists will be able to create cell-rich bioconstructions that can change shape and self-heal.

The created structures can mimic the natural life processes of cells and tissues. Moreover, fragments printed can be spliced together with the help of ultraviolet radiation.

Scientists hope that this development will allow doctors to obtain more accurate data in the field of tissue morphogenesis - for example, skin. In their opinion, this technology is worth introducing into current clinical practice as soon as possible.
