Regular consumption of lentils is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease in adults, a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association informs.

Lentils, a member of the legume family, are considered a good source of fiber and protein. They also contain a number of important substances for health and immune function, such as potassium, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, selenium, riboflavin, phosphorus and vitamin B6.

Experts advise to start eating lentils in small quantities. If you eat a lot at once, it can cause flatulence or constipation. It is also recommended to drink a lot of fluids.
