How can you help someone with heat stroke?

Dr. Olga Pavlova told how to act in case of heat stroke, MedikForum reported.

The expert notes that it is not necessary to stand in the open sun to get heatstroke. You can suffer from overheating not only in summer, but simply by being in a hot and stuffy room, even in a closed car.

“In heatstroke, the skin turns red, weakness develops, a rapid, superficial pulse, rapid breathing, dizziness, nausea, or vomiting. Convulsions are possible,” the expert says.

Most at risk are children who, having played, cannot adequately assess their condition. As well as older people who often fall asleep sitting on a bench in the sun.

If you find a person who has become ill from overheating, immediately call an ambulance. Before the arrival of the brigade, move the victim to the shade. Lay it so that the legs are higher than the head.

• Remove restrictive clothing, belts. If the person is conscious and able to drink on their own, give them as much water as possible that is not too cold. From above, you can cover the person with a damp sheet or towel.
• To prevent heat stroke, always carry water with you, drink it in small portions from time to time.
• Try to avoid the open sun and hot closed rooms.
• Prefer loose clothing made from natural fabrics, wear a hat.
• Beer and strong alcoholic drinks in the heat are taboo.
