Scientists from Lomonosov Moscow State University plan to investigate the effect of antidepressants on the reproductive system of women, Gazeta.ru reports.

“Women are twice as likely to experience depression, with the risk of depression increasing during childbearing age, and pregnancy being a vulnerable period,” the experts noted.

That is why it is important to analyze how safe it is to take drugs that help cope with depression, and how their effect affects reproductive function, the researchers explained.

Scientists will conduct a series of experiments on animals and cell cultures.
