14:15 2 August, 2022Scientists from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem have discovered a molecule that increases longevity and quality of life, the journal Autophagy writes.
During the study, scientists identified a group of molecules that allow cells to repair damaged areas while preserving function. The effectiveness of these compounds was tested on a model organism.
It turned out that these molecules can protect human cells from damage, so they can be used to treat Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, as well as to increase the longevity of cells.
The scientists created the startup Vitalunga, which is developing a full-fledged drug based on these molecules for introduction into clinical practice.
