WHO: Number of cases of monkeypox infections worldwide jumps 20%

The number of cases of monkeypox jumped more than 20 percent worldwide last week, the World Health Organization said at a news conference, UPI reported. 

More than 35,000 cases have been reported worldwide, most of them in Europe and the Americas. At the same time, 12 patients have died. 

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the majority of cases continue to be among nontraditional men.
