17:22 12 December, 2023Davit Melik-Nubaryan has been appointed as the new Director of the Research Center of Maternal and Child Health Protection (RCMCHR) of Armenia. This decision was made Monday at the general meeting of shareholders of the RCMCHR.
And on Tuesday, the new director was introduced to the staff of the RCMCHR. Melik-Nubaryan presented the development and reform plan of the ancient Yerevan maternity hospital at the meeting with the medical staff. He promised that the RCMCHR will maintain its basic profile, but the range of its services provided can be expanded.
In an interview with NEWS.am Medicine, the new director said that the RCMCHR's development strategy will be based on traditions created over decades. He reminded that the RCMCHR is the first maternity hospital in Yerevan, it was founded in 1932, and it made a great contribution to the development of mother and child health and still maintains a great professional and scientific potential.
The projects include modernization of the RCMCHR, and improvement of its infrastructure and acquisition of the latest medical equipment.
Melik-Nubaryan considers investments in development of human potential and continued education of medical personnel to be key.
"I can say that the Center is in a very stable condition, it serves hundreds of pregnant women and mothers of newborns. The Center is stable, working with all its strength, and here it’s about development which will happen," he said.
In terms of the new directions of activities, the new director of the RCMCHR noted that in any case, everything will be shaped around the health of the women.
"Our motto is: ‘Everything for the woman, around the woman, and about the woman.’ And in that logic, this will be a center for women. And the objective of the renovations is to make the Center even more comfortable and introduce new services. This can also be plastic, aesthetic services, but everything will revolve around the woman. Other services not typical of the Center's activities are not planned," he said.
As for the former director of the RCMCHR, Professor Georgi Okoev, Davit Melik-Nubaryan noted that Okoev is an important person of the RCMCHR, and he will do everything to ensure that the professor stays at the Research Center of Maternal and Child Health Protection.
From 2017 to 2019, Davit Melik-Nubaryan held the position of the Head of the Medical Assistance Policy Department of the Ministry of Health of Armenia. In 2020-2021, he worked as an expert at the standing committees on health care and social affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia. He is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Public Health and Healthcare Organization of the Yerevan State Medical University.
