Mpox epidemic declared in Republic of the Congo

The Republic of the Congo has declared an epidemic of mpox (monkeypox) in the country, AFP reports, citing the country's health minister, Gilbert Mokoki .

"The Republic of the Congo has declared an epidemic of mpox in five departments, including the capital Brazzaville, 19 cases have been confirmed," reports the aforesaid news agency.

At the moment, there have been no reports of deaths from this disease in the country.

Residents of the Republic of the Congo have been urged to avoid contact with animals.
