Before the Gamma Knife treatment procedure a computed tomography (CT) scan, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or angiography is performed, depending on the pathology we are dealing with, so the location of the target can be determined.

Afterwards, a light frame is attached to the patient's head. The location of the target is already determined in relation to the frame and the treatment procedure starts. During the procedure, the patient lies on the machine.

Depending on the size and shape of the target, irradiation can last from several minutes to an hour.

The patient does not feel the radiation, the procedure is entirely painless, there is no disturbing noise from the device and he can talk to the doctor through the microphone.
