16:41 23 September, 2025Australian researchers from CSIRO and the University of Adelaide have found that regular consumption of yellow kiwi can effectively increase vitamin C levels in the body. The results of a randomized clinical trial were published in the scientific journal Nutrients.
The experiment involved 26 adults with low vitamin C levels. Participants were divided into two groups: one was instructed to eat two kiwifruits (SunGold kiwifruit) daily, while the other received vitamin C capsules. Over several weeks, the scientists monitored changes in stress, mood, and fatigue.
Kiwi proved to be faster and more effective than supplements: within just four days, participants in the kiwi group reported reduced fatigue, and after a week they experienced improved mood and increased vitality. Vitamin C supplements also had a positive effect, but it appeared later and was less pronounced. Blood serum analyses confirmed the benefits.
The researchers emphasized that kiwi not only provides vitamin C but also contains a range of bioactive compounds that enhance antioxidant protection and support the nervous system.
Additionally, the study found that kiwi consumption helps combat mild mood disturbances and depression, though no significant benefits were observed in cases of more severe symptoms.
