New calculator can help you find out how many calories YOU burn during sex

Forget hitting the gym - having sex can be as good a workout as going for a run.

A new tool reveals exactly how many calories we burn during a session between the sheets.

The sex workout calculator, created by online doctor service Dr Felix, reveals 30 minutes of sex is the equivalent of a 15 minute run - and can burn off a 90 calorie can of cola.

It shows the positions that burn the most calories. For men, 10 minutes of holding their partner up or having sex standing up is the most intense.

Women, on the other hand, exert themselves the most when they are being held up or while in the reverse cowgirl position.

The calculator also shows exactly which muscles men and women are working out - including the arms, legs, glutes and abs.

However, don't get too smug - the bad news is that in order to work off more than two apples, the average person would need to have sex for more than half an hour.

But an hour of particularly active sex burns the equivalent of a slice of pizza or a glass of wine, the tool suggests.

Two hours will burn a hamburger or three vodka and cokes - and is the equivalent of playing an entire football match.

The tool asks users to input their gender, weight and their partner's weight.

They can then choose from a range of positions, from missionary and doggy style to wheelbarrow or spooning.

Using a slider, they can then choose how long they spend in each position.

After clicking 'calculate', the tool reveals how many calories the sexercise burns - and what this equates to in terms of food or other forms of activity.
