Is it possible to eat pasta and not gain weight?

March 23, 2022  09:45

A few cups of cooked pasta contain almost all the daily carbohydrates needed for a person with a sedentary lifestyle. So if you want to keep eating pasta without losing weight, there are things to consider, nutritionist Susie Burrell said.

According to 7 News, the sauces and additives with which pasta is served usually make it high-calorie. Many sauces (like pesto) are high in fat. It is the combination of fats and carbohydrates that leads to weight gain.

Another important detail, according to the expert, is that in Italy, the home of pasta, it is served in small portions, so Italians manage not to gain weight. In many other countries, including Australia, the portions are too big and people overeat and, as a result, gain weight quickly.

To keep your figure, Burrell recommends choosing whole-grain pasta or alternatives made with vegetables, and watching your portion size.
