January 18, 2024  12:28

A research team at the Technical University of Denmark has developed a unique artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm that predicts a person's lifespan with 78% accuracy. Details of this research are presented in the prestigious scientific journal Nature Computational Science.

To create this algorithm, the researchers used data from 6 million Danes from various archives, medical records, as well as information about the volunteers' health, personal data, and social status. This enabled these researcher to collect comprehensive information about real people.

The data entered into the system was then analyzed by the aforesaid algorithm that looked for patterns and predicted future developments based on existing experience. As a result of this work, the neural network learned to predict with 78% accuracy not only a person's health condition and financial income during his lifetime, but also the probability of death in certain periods.

The research team expressed confidence that this algorithm could be used in order to develop personalized strategies to improve people’s health and reduce the risk of their premature death.
