Obesity: exercising before breakfast helps you lose weight faster

Physical activity between seven and nine o'clock in the morning on an empty stomach provides fast and effective weight loss. This is the conclusion reached by scientists from Franklin Pierce University in the USA. The results of the study were published in the journal Obesity (The Obesity Society's Journal).

During the study, scientists collected information about the training activity of 5 thousand people who want to get rid of excess weight. To track when the participants exercised, the researchers instructed them to wear special fitness bracelets on their wrists throughout the observation period. At the end of the experiment, the researchers recorded how much extra weight the subjects had lost.

It turned out that morning workouts (from 7:00 to 9:00) on an empty stomach contributed to more effective weight loss. Scientists explained that after an overnight fast, glucose levels, which muscles use primarily as fuel, are reduced. This means that the body's energy for exercise will come more from existing fat stores.

The researchers clarified that morning workouts for weight loss do not necessarily need to be long. Forty minutes of aerobic exercise such as running or cycling will be enough to burn fat.
