How much coffee can be good for health? Russian arrhythmologist Andrey Ardashev gave his take on the matter.

The Prime news agency notes that coffee is a complex mixture of more than 150 chemicals, each of which has a different effect on the body. According to Ardashev, antioxidants and phenols can reduce inflammation and prevent the development of cancer. They also have an anti-diabetic effect.

The arrhythmologist added that one of the main positive properties of coffee is related to the fact that the molecular structure of caffeine resembles the neurotransmitter adenosis. According to the doctor, caffeine binds to the adenosine receptors on the neurotransmitter in the brain and, as a result, reduces the effect of the neurotransmitter. That is why coffee invigorates and gives strength, Ardashev explained.

According to the specialist, "The target organ of caffeine is the brain, but not the heart."

"Caffeine in moderate doses (40-300 mg) can counteract the effects of adenosine; that is, it reduces fatigue and increases alertness. At the same time, as in the case of other products, the main thing is to know the amount and not to exceed the daily dose, "Andrey Ardashev added.
