Whole-grain barley quickly lowers blood sugar levels and plays an important role in controlling type 2 diabetes.

According to Anne Nilsson, associate professor at the Food for Health Science Center (Sweden), whole-grain barley is rich in dietary fiber, which allows it to be digested slowly. Combined with high magnesium levels, whole-grain barley is considered an incredibly useful product for diabetics and people at high risk of developing diabetes.

According to experts, barley not only helps control appetite, but also improves intestinal health, lowers blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The carbohydrates in barley are absorbed and gradually converted to glucose in the bloodstream, which helps maintain energy and cellular function without rapidly raising blood glucose levels. Other whole-grain foods also have many of these anti-diabetic properties, but perhaps whole-grain barley is the best of them.

A study from Lund University (Sweden) found that barley can quickly improve people's health by lowering blood sugar levels and even reducing the risk of developing diabetes.

The study showed that the blend of dietary fiber in barley also helps reduce appetite and risk of cardiovascular disease.
