What are benefits of bananas?

Banana is quite a caloric product, and there are a lot of carbohydrates in it, however, it also has health benefits, says nutritionist Julie Upton (USA).

According to the publication Eat This, Not That!, a banana of medium size contains 110 kilocalories, 30 grams of carbohydrates and 3 grams of pure fiber.

One fruit contains 25 percent of your daily vitamin B and 10 percent of your potassium, vitamin C and manganese.

Bananas have no fat, but thanks to fiber and carbohydrates, they are very filling. Upton also cited research by colleagues in Chicago who found that even the smell of this fruit can reduce feelings of hunger.

The potassium contained in a banana (about 400 milligrams) helps stabilize blood pressure and has a positive effect on heart function, and the lack of sodium in the fruit enhances this effect.

According to the specialist, the banana can improve mood, thanks to vitamin B, which is a neurotransmitter of the "happiness hormones" - serotonin and dopamine. The doctor refers to a study in the journal Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics, which directly links vitamin B deficiency with the risks of developing depressive states.
