What are the benefits of lentils?

Regular consumption of lentils is associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease in adults, a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association informs.

Lentils, a member of the legume family, are considered a good source of fiber and protein. They also contain a number of important substances for health and immune function, such as potassium, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, selenium, riboflavin, phosphorus and vitamin B6.

  • Lentils are also believed to:
  • Reduce harmful cholesterol levels
  • Fight fatigue
  • Reduce the risk of cancer
  • Increase sense of satiety
  • Reduce the likelihood of diabetes
  • Help normalize blood pressure
  • Prevent constipation
  • Help control weight, lose weight

Experts advise to start eating lentils in small quantities. If you eat a lot at once, it can cause flatulence or constipation. It is also recommended to drink a lot of fluids.
