The publication Eat This Not That told about four surprising consequences of eating kiwi fruit daily.

First, kiwifruit is a rich source of choline, lutein, and zeaxanthin, all types of antioxidants known to protect the body from free radicals. Antioxidants play an important role in fighting free radicals in your body, which are caused by oxidative stress and increase your risk of chronic disease.

Second, kiwifruit contains over 200% of the daily value of the antioxidant vitamin C, making it ideal for immune health.

A third reason to include kiwifruit in your daily diet is its high fiber content, which is important not only for digestive health, but also for liver protection, lowering blood sugar and blood pressure, and weight control.

And fourth, kiwifruit are also known for being high in folate (or natural folic acid - ed.). Folate is a B vitamin that is an essential nutrient involved in protein metabolism and red blood cell production during growth, which is especially important for pregnant women (they need more folate than usual - 600 micrograms). One kiwi has 17 micrograms of folate, so cut yourself a few to get closer to your daily requirement.
