In 2022 in Armenia will be recorded 10,000 new cases of cancers
Lung cancer in Armenia continues to lead among men; in women the dominant position keeps breast cancer, said at a press conference on February 4, dedicated to the World Cancer Day, chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Armenia, director of the National oncological center Hayrapet Galstyan.
According to the latest data from WHO in 2020 there will be approx. 20 mln new cases of oncological patients, the mortality will be around 10 mln. That is why specialists from all over the world try to do everything possible for prevention of oncological diseases, he said.
As for Armenia, in 2002 there were 5737 new cases registered, in 2012 there were 7877 cases. If in 2002, of100 thousand people 179 were cancer patients, then 10 years later, this figure had risen to 240.
Experts estimate, that in 2022 in Armenia there will be 10 thousand new cases of cancer diseases registered, and both now and in 10 years the most frequest cases will be lung, breast, bladder and prostate cancers.
