18 year-old gives birth while stuck in elevator for 1 hour

A pregnant 18 year-old gave birth while trapped in an elevator at the Sarawak General Hospital here today.
Zuriada Nashikin, from Kampung Sejaiee Masjid, Sadong Jaya, was in labour and being rushed to the delivery ward on the fourth floor of the hospital when the lift stalled - and remained stuck for one hour.
Luckily for Zuriada, she was in the company of two nurses who helped her birth her child in the most inauspicious of situations. However, there were no complications during the 4.30pm delivery of her healthy baby boy, who weighed 1.14kg.
State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operation) Farhan Sufyan Borhan said the department deployed six men in one fire truck to help open the door of the lift.
Once rescued, Zuriada and her baby were immediately rushed for medical examination and treatment.
