46-year-old woman receives kidney from her ‘hero’ husband

Lisa Lee, 46, from UK received from her husband, 51-year-old Martin, an unusual gift - a kidney, The Mirror reported.
Lisa has suffered from progressive kidney disease since childhood. She postponed the operation until the last stage of renal failure. By that time, she had such a strong shortness of breath that it was difficult for her to climb the stairs.
She needed a kidney transplant, and her husband was the donor for her.
The surgery was held at Leicester General Hospital.
“I feel like a completely new person. My function now is higher than it’s ever been”, she said. “It all got a bit overwhelming when we were actually there going through it. He’s my hero, he’s saved my life.”
