August 8, 2019  21:25

Tobacco use is the only preventable risk of cancer mortality, RIA Novosti reported referring to the expert of the Department of Noncommunicable Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO) Andre Ilbawi.

According to the source, smoking is still the main cause of lung cancer and expert note that there are over seven thousand chemicals in tobacco smoke, of which at least 250 are harmful to the body, and 50 lead to the development of cancer. It is also possible to earn lung cancer if a person, for example, smoking only hookah.

The smoke contains toxic substances that can lead to the development of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Nicotine, which is harmful to the body, is partially absorbed by water, however, a hookah smoker takes much more puffs than those who smoke cigarettes.

As of e-cigarettes, negative health effects will occur on the part of the pulmonary system. Their adverse effects on the cardiovascular system and carcinogenic effect, cannot also be ruled out.

According to the WHO expert, e-cigarettes are highly addictive, while evidence of the safety of long-term nicotine use is insufficient.
