Often it is not easy to determine the presence of this bacterium due to its insufficient quantity in the sample. Therefore, scientists focused on creating a more sensitive test.
Multiplex Amplification (MCDA) is a technique that can quickly detect very small amounts of DNA. Compared to PCR, this method is more sensitive when working with bacteria.
Researchers have developed an MCDA analysis for each of the seven Salmonella serotypes. All analyzes accurately detect up to 10 copies of DNA and can give results in just eight minutes. However, special equipment is not required.
