«Heart electrician» Karapet Davtyan - frames with radiofrequency ablation procedures

December 16, 2013  13:51

Head of Interventional arhythmology of Moscow Institute of Preventive Medicine Karapet Davtyan  periodically conducts minimally invasive surgery at medical center "Natali Pharm Malatia" in Yerevan. Camera crew NEWS.am Medicine attended catheter radiofrequency ablation.

Doctor, who called himself figuratively a heart electrician, explained that the patient had tachycardia - so-called syndrome WPW. «With the catheters in the form of wires, we study the electrical properties of the heart. We have an oscilloscope, which records how we measure the electrical resistance of the pulse difference from one place to another, and so we find pathological sections of the pulse, and cauterize their impact point, after which the patient recovers», he explained.

Already during the operation the doctor explained that in order to bring the electrode to the damaged area of the heart, the heart was slightly pierced, but the hole subsequently would heal by itself.

Results from the procedure are fixed with the cardiogram: on the right – picture before the operation, on the left – after.
