The risk of developing depression may depend on a person's sleep patterns.

Based on genetic databases and information about the sleep patterns of the subjects it was concluded that early risers have a 23% lower risk of developing major depression than owls .

Commenting on the results of the study, Dr. Till Roenneberg in a conversation with The New York Times noted that owls often have to break their regime in order to get to work on time.

According to a chronobiology expert, it may contribute to the development of depression.
