COVID-19 vaccinations in Armenia to become paid service for foreigners?

YEREVAN. – Armenia, like many other countries, is guided by humanitarian principles when organizing the coronavirus vaccination process. Acting Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said this Thursday when asked by reporters whether the inoculations against COVID-19 can become a paid service in Armenia for foreigners.

"No country can be safe in the pandemic sense if the situation around it is not good. And based on the fact that this [i.e., the coronavirus] is a dangerous public disease, we [Armenia] have adopted such a principle [i.e., free of charge vaccinations], and will continue [to do so]. But this does not mean that we will not make adjustments in our policy during the growth of interest [in these inoculations]," she added.

According to her, in order to ensure the uninterrupted rendering of vaccination and outpatient services at the polyclinics of Armenia, a decision has been made that tourists from abroad will be vaccinated against COVID-19 only at outdoor mobile points of the country, and therefore there will be no problem of queuing.

To note, another decision will come into force soon, according to which foreigners who spend at least ten days in Armenia can be vaccinated against the coronavirus in the country.
