What is connection between obesity and antibodies to COVID-19?
Obese patients who have had COVID-19 may be better protected against reinfection by the coronavirus, Scientists at Israel's Sheba Medical Center say.
According to RIA Novosti, the number of antibodies decreases with time both in those who have recovered from COVID-19 and those who have been vaccinated. Those previously infected had much better antibody scores than those who had been vaccinated.
The scientists also saw a correlation between overweight and antibodies: Coronavirus-infected and obese patients were more resistant to reinfection. They had a higher and more sustained immune response, protection compared to overweight and normal weight patients.
Patients with a BMI of 30 or higher had advantages over those who were less overweight.
