Financial incentives can help people overcome nicotine addiction, according to scientists from the University of East Anglia and it is not so important what amount exactly should be offered for giving up smoking, Spiegel reported.
According to the source, a meta-analysis of 33 studies have been conducted with the participation of 21,600 people from the US, Thailand, Europe and the Philippines. In the course of research, smokers were offered cash or a voucher to give up smoking.
Ten studies have investigated this phenomenon for 2571 pregnant women. On average, after six months, the average distribution was as follows: the probability that pregnant women give up smoking when they received coupon was 2.38 times higher than if they had not been promised it.
