Dutch farmworker contracts COVID-19 from mink

May 20, 2020  14:57

Dutch farmworker has contracted COVID-19 from mink, Reuters reported referring to the Dutch Agriculture Minister.

According to the minister, the previously issued recommendations on the impossibility of transmitting COVID-19 from mink to humans were erroneous and there is still a minimal risk of infection.

An outbreak of coronavirus was recorded in April at two fur farms in the Netherlands among minks. Authorities restricted access to animals but said transmission of the virus to humans was not possible. The state of workers of fur farms was not specified.
