Cats can lead to health issues?

March 22, 2021  23:11

Cats can kill humans due to the infections they can carry. Moreover, some unintentional actions of pets can lead to the death of a person, experts told Russia's AIF.

According to the veterinarian neurologist Lyudmila Konikova, a cat can damage a person during sleep and block his airways.

Zoo engineer Anastasia Kalinina, in turn, advised not to leave children under two years old alone with cats. A child can accidentally hurt the cat, and she will scratch or bite the baby in response.

Zoopsychologist Elena Melnikova noted that cats sometimes experience aggression. This is usually associated with fear, illness, progeny protection, or play. To prevent aggressive manifestations, you need to play with your pet and provide him with a sufficient level of physical activity.

Cats can carry such deadly diseases for humans as leptospirosis and rabies, so animals must be vaccinated annually and not allow vagrancy and their contact with street relatives, Kalinina said.

Kittens, she said, are often carriers of ringworm.
