May 24, 2022  22:46

WHO Representative in Russia Melita Vujnovic announced a two-year reduction in life expectancy during the coronavirus pandemic, Moscow 24 reports.

The expert clarified that at present, life expectancy has dropped from 72.5 years to below 71 years. The decline occurred for the first time since 1950.

Earlier, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the incidence of coronavirus is growing in about 70 countries around the world.

According to him, this is happening against the backdrop of a sharp reduction in testing for coronavirus and the lifting of all restrictions. The WHO also drew attention to the increase in deaths from COVID-19 in Africa.
