Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States, but the survival rate is 91 percent if the cancer is diagnosed at a localized stage. Experts told Eat This, Not That! about signs that indicate the possibility of colorectal cancer. Rectal bleeding can be a sign of colon cancer and should never be taken lightly, doctors warn. In this case, a colonoscopy should be performed. Other common symptoms of colon cancer include tight stools, gas pains, bloating, cramping, weight loss and fatigue. Nausea and vomiting can also be a sign of colon cancer, experts warn. Nausea and vomiting can occur if a tumor of the colon or rectum blocks the intestine and prevents the passage of liquid or solid waste or gas, experts say. A family history of colon cancer can be a risk factor, so if there is a family history of such cases, get regular checkups.
