But a healthy lifestyle protects against accelerated aging, HealthDay reports.Researchers analyzed MRI scans of the brains of more than 31,000 Britons between the ages of 40 and 70. Using AI, the doctors estimated the biological age of each person's brain.People with prediabetes (a condition that shows some signs of diabetes) had brains that were on average six months older than their healthy peers.Diabetes “aged” the brain by 2.3 years, and poorly controlled diabetes aged the brain by four years. However, diabetics who were physically active, did not smoke or drink alcohol had normal brains.Diabetes has been shown to increase the risk of developing dementia. Therefore, an increase in the incidence of diabetes may also lead to an increase in the incidence of dementia. A new study has provided a possible way to prevent this.
