A UK nurse's body response to lip augmentation with fillers may have helped save her life, reports Yahoo Life.

Edita Jucaite, aged 36 from Banbury, Oxfordshire, had previously undergone such procedures without any side effects. But after the injection of fillers, which was done in April 2023, her upper lip immediately swelled up, and a large bruise filled with blood appeared on it.

After this unusual reaction, the fellow doctor who administered the injection advised Edita to see her primary care physician. They examined her blood and advised her to go to hospital immediately on suspicion of cancer.

Further studies showed that Edita has chronic myelogenous leukemia.

Now, she wants to draw attention to the symptoms of leukemia because she would never have realized that she had such unusual bruises.

The only other sign that something was seriously wrong with Edita was that she had recently lost a little weight, but she had chalked it up to a positive result of preparing for the holiday.
