American scientists have revealed the connection between the high level of optimism and healthy cardiovascular system. They involved national survey data on atherosclerosis. 5134 people ranging in age from 45-84 were participated in research during 2000-2014. Among the participants 38% was white, 28% was African-American, 22 percent Hispanic/Latino and 12% Chinese emigrants.
Scientists assessed 7 metrics: blood pressure, body mass index, fasting plasma glucose and serum cholesterol levels, dietary intake, physical activity and tobacco use.
Then, specialists followed the participants' state of health and the level of optimism. The statistical factors between socio-demographic and psychological characteristics of the participants were also taken into consideration.
Researchers have noticed that a high level of optimism contributes to have healthy hearts and vessels.
Individuals with the highest levels of optimism have twice the odds of being free from such diseases compared to their pessimistic counterparts.
