Human biological clock is in their DNA, scientists have proved. They have concluded the following: people whose biological age is greater than their true age are more likely to die sooner.
Scientists checked a study, where 5,000 older people were participated. The study had four phases and continuted till 14 years. During that time scientists from the University of Edinburgh in collaboration with researchers in Australia and the US followed the state of DNA of the participants for which they took their blood sample during the early phase.
It was found out that all the chemical reactions are in human DNA and they impact on a biological clock, as well as, on life span, the Daily Mail reports. So, the greater is the biological age, the more chances people have to die sooner.
''This new research increases our understanding of longevity and healthy ageing. It is exciting as it has identified a novel indicator of ageing, which improves the prediction of lifespan over and above the contribution of factors such as smoking, diabetes and cardiovascular disease'', the study's principal investigator, Professor Ian Deary, from the University of Edinburgh's Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology, said.
